My favorite poker player besides me some would say would be Scott Fishman since in a resent article on this site was called a fish for other reasons. However, I would have to say that my favorite player would have to be the one that they call "Kid Poker". He got this nickmame when he was the youngest player at the table at the age of 23. He feels that he may need to get a new name cause Kid Poker will not be that funny or fit when he is fifty years old.
Daniel Negreanu is just one of the pro poker players that while he is at a table he is there to win. He makes everyone have a good time, except for the person that just lost all of their chips to him. Daniel is not afaired to get in to the mix with questionable hands if he thinks that he can out play the other person. He know what his oppent is thinking when he is in or out of the hand.
Daniel's poker career is not nearly as long as others in the curcit, however he does have the most money won totaling nearly six million plus. He plays in the biggest cash games in the world. He has 12 wins from 1997 to 1999 which is the most by anyone on the curcit. He may not have as many braclets as Chan, or Doyle, but put any of them heads up and I would say that Daniel is going to walk away a winner almost 90 percent of the time.
During each tourment that Daniel plays in there are a couple of thing that you can expect to see that you will not get when watching others. The first is that his mom sets and watches each tourment that he enters. She will watch the hands no matter how bad of a beat Daniel gets. When he gets out the first thing that he does is walk over to his mom and gives her a hug and a kiss. Now that takes a lot to be a momma's boy in fornt of so many people. The second thing that you will notice when Daniel is at a table is the Maple Leaf jeresy that he will be sporting. Now I myself am not a big hockey fan, it is just to damn cold for me, but it is nice to see some that will go against the tranditonal mind set of that when you are in a big tourment that may be on t.v. you have to wear a suit of some type. I my self feel that you need to be comfortable when you are playing for something that could change the rest of you life. This year alone the winner of the WSOP wore the same plain white tee shirt for the entire tourmnet. Then if you win you can go out and buy a new suit or two. When you wear what you want it buring back the old time poker, where men would come in the bar and just set down and play for hundreds of dollars at a time. Then get back on the horse and ride off into the sunset.
Daniel is my favorite play besides me because that he has many different sides of him that shows good reason why he was the 2004 ESPN Player of the Year, 2004-2005 World Poker Tour Player of the Year, 2004 Card Player Magazine Player of the Year, 2004 Champion Player of the Year. He is just one of the best all around players hands down.
