Hello Poker Players!  Thught it would be fun for everyone to tell us who they fear at the table the most in the West Valley Poker Pub.  As for me, its a sweet little old lady named Charlotte who has a nickname of "The Assasin".  She has taken me for more chips than anyone!  I will go to extremes to avoid her table!!!!!  She's Brutal!!!!

I so agree with it being "Tilto", that "donkey" draws out more hands than anyone I know.  Ohh and that laugh is like nails on a chalkboard, that is why I bring my ipod, to drown out that screeching.

I fear any donkey with a decent chipstack. They call everything and got that stack because they're catching what they chase.

Tilto...nice one!

Wasn't 100% sure of who that was...until you mentioned the laugh.

Now I am, because it haunts my dreams!

Sadly I always seem to end up sitting at her table. Even when I see the name on the list and try to count the right number of blanks, suddenly 8 more people show up and the table count changes.

Still, I thought i'd share my nicknames for that same player:

Queen Of Donkeys

LagHag

She-Who-Must-Not-Be-Named

I like those better than Tilto, but that's probably because I came up with them, and I'm smarter than most. Cool

*KIDDING! Tongue out Don't flame me till I get my protective suit on!*

First time I sat next to Charlotte

First time I sat next to her was at IronWorks.

She brutalized my premiums all night calling from behind. Sweetest smile ever for someone carving up your chipsstack like Charles Mason with the munchies! Watch out she loves to check a made hand if your betting but believe me, it's better than the donkeys by a bunch, and if you do get to sit next to her, strike up a conversation. She's a real gem!

She's spotted at Everyday Gourmet on Fridays most weeks, for those looking to play her.

Feared not for Poker Prowess, but a distinct lack of knowlege for the game....ace-chaser deluxe.....will call you to the river if she is holding an ace.....and if i have to hear about that wedding (thats its own joke) i might just choke her out UFC style.....LOL....I hope her and Luke vader are very happy together and go live in .....maybe Nebraska!!!!

Don't stray from the subject at hand

I understand 100% how everyone feels about certain players in the league, but please remember that the survey was asking about the most feared player at the poker table. This does not mean that the door is open for a trash talking session that is viewed by everyone. Say what you would like, but please remain respectful to the other players. -Erika

I didn't intend for this to be a trash talking session, but she is the most feared.  She simply will chase down everything and catch on the river.  She is feared do to the fact that she knocks out so many people when she really has no reason to be in a pot.  But then again, everyone plays differently.  I just know that I rarely am in a pot when she's involved...i have learned my lesson.

So we're not alone here . . . lol

I thought St. Louis had the only one of those. I won't mention any names but everyone here would probably choose a root canal over having to sit at a table with her.  I don't think it's fear so much as frustration when you sit down for a fun evening of poker and end up in an "un-fun" crap shoot.  But then again you've got to learn to play them all if you want to be the best.

If it helps any, you're not alone.

Being nice...

Look, while I can respect trying to maintain a positive board, people have the right to express negative opinions...especially given that no one went as far as *naming* the individual involved. (Because we don't need to! This player's rep is so well-known that all of us immediately keyed in to whom the post was referring to!)

If things had gotten ridiculously out of proportion, I could understand...but this is far tamer than things I've heard said at the player's table, and even within earshot of them!

Please respect our right to have a negative opinion, that's part of the beauty of free speech! Besides, you're surely not going to argue that this player's own continous bad play doesn't warrant a snarky comment from those who have worked rather hard to develop better poker techniques...right?

P.s. The forum topic is about scary players, and I can't imagine anything scarier than someone who never folds post-flop. Undecided

As for what Sethro said, I employ the same strategy. If I don't flop the nuts or a very big hand, I fold; even if I'm sure I'm winning at the time.

One last thing!!

In the spirit of moving on, I would like to clarify that while Charlotte can be scary, she's one of the players I actively seek out to improve my game. She shows agression to tight players, and when slowplaying large pockets and senses that someone caught a good flop, she can lay it down because she knows she's beaten. That's good judgement to the max!

Therre are some really awesome ladies in this league, and I just want to be clear she made my mentioning here because she's good...not bad!

Erika is Just Trying to Keep the Spirit of the Topic Going
Posted: Thu, 08/23/2007 - 8:24pm

I agree with Erika.  I didnt post the survey to trash anybody.  Maybe I should have made the topic:  Out of ALL the GOOD Players in the West Valley, Who is your most Feared Opponent???   We all play this game because we have competitive personalities and having a good opponent to play is what makes it fun for me!  And by all means I totally respect Charlotte at the table.   Just the right mixture of solid play with a bit of bluffing to make her hard to read.

AngusTheAce
Yeah, and speaking of solid

Yeah, and speaking of solid with a mix of bluffing, I gotta give a little respect to Josh Fait. He's really getting a feel for some of the PP regulars, and a couple of times I've been able to "pocket cam" a perfectly timed bluff against a tighter player, and that's the difference between a short stack and a healthy stack at final table.

Can't wait until he and I can do another heads up match!

Who knows, maybe this time he'll beat me...assuming I dont have aces again!  ;) (Teasing!)

drunk people who just toss

drunk people who just toss money in are my feared. they river all kinds of stuff. Last saturday at Clicks these 2 dudes were smashed, argueing and not even knowing it was there turn to bet. Ugh, people left the table and gave up their chips after a while.
